「神之子」田中將大的連勝之旅，就像看不到終點一般，今天面對大都會，以114球演出大聯盟生涯第一場完封勝，9局只被敲出4安、0失分，飆8K，帶領洋基4：0擊敗大都會，他也收下開季6連勝、美日跨季34連勝。

田中登板，打線也跟著有了信心，第2局先由羅伯斯 (Brian Robert)三壘安打首開紀錄，索拉提 (Yangervis Solarte)和塔薛爾拉 (Mark Teixeira)在第4和第6局敲出陽春砲，擴大洋基領先優勢。

此戰為跨聯盟比賽，於大都會主場進行，田中必須再次拎著球棒上場打擊，他在前場出賽打擊吞了3K後，今天也敲出生涯首安。

九局上，洋基輪到第九棒田中打擊，並未選擇換上代打，而是留給他拚完封勝的機會，他站上打擊區，一棒敲出滾地安打穿出防線，上回他吞3K逗樂基特 (Derek Jeter)，這回安打開張，又見基特在一旁樂開懷。

田中的表現獲得一致好評，紐約媒體盛讚，這名價值1.55億美元的菜鳥回應了外界期待。

洋基賽前已吞四連敗，寄望田中扮演救星，他也不負所望，一場又一場證明自己是真貨，儼然已是洋基輪值裡最值得信賴的先發投手。
