大陸傳統油漆消費稅政策將出台，污染環境、有毒的傳統油漆將面臨產業整合。在大氣治理的政策面扶持下，水性塗料等環保型塗料將迎來快速發展機遇。

中國工程院金湧院士也表示，水性漆等環保塗料符合國際科技發展趨勢，將成為傳統油漆的升級換代產品，引領綠色塗裝新格局。在新環保法的要求下，污染企業處罰將不設上限，傳統油漆帶來的有機揮發物，成為重點整治領域。

目前大陸塗料年產量接近1,300萬噸，環境友好型塗料使用率不到50%，而歐美發達國家為70%-80%。從應用類別來看，占塗料市場45%的為建築裝飾塗料，基本為環保型塗料，水性占比90%，粉末塗料約8%。另外近50%市場為溶劑型塗料，易揮發甲醛、苯等有毒物質，對環境影響較大。
