對於台灣愈來愈多民眾瘋人民幣，希望從中賺取利差與匯差。中國人民銀行（大陸央行）行長周小川指出，人民幣跨境業務大陸主要鼓勵的方向是支援實體經濟活動，至於組合投資產品則應適當掌握節奏。

周小川這番談話暗示大陸不樂見人民幣在台灣僅具理財功能。

由於看升人民幣，加上人民幣存款利率高於台幣，台灣民眾將資產轉移至人民幣存款，台灣人民幣存款快速累積；國銀外匯指定銀行（DBU）加計國際金融業務分行（OBU）的人民幣存款，已經逼近兩千五百億元台幣，人民幣存款累積速度快過香港與新加坡。～經濟日報2014年 3月12日頭版頭條
