被問恐當替補 一朗道盡辛酸

洋基強打鈴木一朗本季仍持續待在球隊，尚未被交易出去，若維持至開季，恐怕成為「最有名的第五號外野手」，被問到以後可能會成為替補作何感想時，這位40歲老將道出剛來洋基裡的心酸，表示當時每次球隊有比賽時，都會看先發名單，看自己的名字有沒有出現在上面。

一朗原本被預估洋基會換走他，可是到了春訓，到了熱身賽，他仍穿著洋基隊球衣出賽，球迷都摸不著高層心理在想什麼，球隊裡面已經有艾斯伯瑞(Jacoby Ellsbury)、貝爾川(Carlos Beltran)、賈德納(Brett Gardner)以及索利安諾(Alfonso Soriano)，一朗目前的狀態都比不上這四位好手，開季很可能成第五號外野手。

若成為替補，一朗很可能要代打、代跑，每十天或者是每周先發一次，如此一來以往打席數動輒600，本季很可能會掉到150至200。被問到此問題，一朗先是說覺得新奇，接著再表示，「我不能說我以前做過這些，因為這都是我以前沒有經歷的。」

一朗接著再道出2012年剛被交易至洋基時的心情，「當我來到這裡感覺到不一樣，因為我每天總是看我有沒有在打線裡，或者是看我守哪裡。」從20歲開始，一朗就是位幾乎每天都先發的球員，到美國每季都有600個打席以上，直到去年才中斷。

這位老將2014年球季隨時會被交易，他也很了解自己的處境，「作為交易謠言的一部份我了解到，當我一開始來到紐約時，就知道某些事情會發生。你自己得有心理準備面對這些事。」外傳巨人、費城人都有意將他換過來，但都沒有下文。
