西門町古門新風貌 靈感…霓虹燈

新的西門夜晚散發彩色光，靈感來自西門町五顏六色的霓虹燈招牌。打造這座古門的女建築師呂惠瑛只有37歲，年紀輕輕就成為主持建築師，讓人眼睛為之一亮。

呂惠瑛自淡江大學建築系畢業，再到交通大學建築研究所攻讀碩士。她說，建築業是男生的天下，女同學人數不到全班1/3，出社會後從事建築業的人更少。

呂惠瑛來自建築業家庭，從小在工地進出、學畫施工圖。在大學擔任講師的她4年前創業，帶學生加入工作團隊，事務所幾名員工只有22、23歲；不同年齡的成員，為團隊帶來不同想法。

打造西門的總經費只有500萬元，呂惠瑛說，案子小但難度高，工作團隊4月開始規劃，競圖也需取得很多人認同，如文化局、文獻會、當地里長。

呂惠瑛喜歡新潮事物，被問到為什麼想蓋古門，她笑說要用新的點子重現歷史，因此使用LED燈設計；她參與競圖不是只為拿案子，而是希望實現想法，這是挑戰的機會。

她笑說，建築師需到工地監工、曬太陽、看鋼筋結構、研究法規，也有不少突發狀況要處理，沒空保養也不能化妝，常勸女學生沒有興趣千萬別做這行。
