老虎隊總教頭奧斯馬斯(Brad Ausmus)可以說是挖到寶了。23日老虎迎戰遊騎兵，9局上由於牛棚吃緊，不得已叫上板凳游擊手渥斯(Danny Worth)，未料渥斯的蝴蝶球果真迷惑打者，還飆出2K順利下丘，不僅隊友歡呼連連，觀眾也起立鼓掌為他喝采。

由於先發投手雷(Robbie Ray)3.1局就被對手打爆，讓遊騎兵燃燒牛棚動用4名中繼後援投手，最後9局上不得已換上28歲的「內野手」渥斯，也是他自從高中後再度登板投球。

面對4名打者，渥斯僅被曼尼茲(Chris Gimenez)敲出1支安打，接下來連續用蝴蝶球解決掉3名打者，飆出2K，虎王韋蘭德(Justin Verlander)看了也在場邊鼓掌叫好，下場時球隊2比9落後仍受到觀眾與隊友的熱情歡呼。

20顆球中唯一一顆速球被曼尼茲咬中，賽後渥斯還有些心有不甘，希望自己沒投出那顆球，但奧斯馬斯已經對他的表現相當滿意，幽默地說，「牛棚一定很多投手忌妒他，他的效率實在太好。」

奧斯馬斯甚至開始考慮，要他每隔10到14天至牛棚練投一次，以減輕他手指的負擔。儘管被問到渥斯未來會不會轉行當蝴蝶球投手時他並未把話說死，不過現階段他很肯定不希望自己太常登板，「我希望我可以不用登板，我希望球隊是領先的。」
