天使主場對洋基，為洋基隊長舉辦退休紀念儀式，基特（Derek Jeter）開轟回謝。

這場可能是洋基隊長退休前在天使球場的最後亮相，球場大螢幕播放基特生涯的精彩紀念片段，並且送給基特加州風味的風浪板，當紀念禮物。

基特收到好禮，二局兩人出局時，從天使投手桑地牙哥（Hector Santiago）手中開轟來回謝，為洋基取得6：0的領先，最終洋基以9：2獲勝。

全場基特5打數2安打得2分1打點，這發陽春砲，基特生涯的257轟，也中止連161打席無全壘打的紀錄，他上次開轟是去年7月18日對光芒。

「很高興敲出1支全壘打，」基特賽後說：「我不是要追逐貝比魯茲（Babe Ruth）紀錄什麼的，但至少你想要轟出1支全壘打，最重要的是我們贏球，對我來說這是以不同方式打出的好比賽。」
