英文文法問題~但不知規在哪一類

名詞後面如果直接看到 動詞＋ing，卻沒有 be 動詞，要想到那可能是現在分詞當做形容詞用，修飾名詞，表示「怎樣怎樣的...」。

Over the past few years, the flood of workers moving to the state -- specifically to the Northwest corner where oil activity is greatest -- has caused a severe housing shortage.

看英文句子，前後有破折號的部份先不要看，那是插入補充而已。剩下：

... the flood of workers moving to the state has caused........

這裡主詞是 the flood of workers，動詞是 has caused， moving to the state 只是現在分詞片語當做形容詞，修飾 workers，表示 「移到該州的」 工人。 整句意思是：

過去幾年，移到該州（特別是油業活動最興盛的西北部）的工人潮已經造成住屋嚴重短缺。
