Google 於上週發表新版本的 Android L 開發者預覽版本之後，面對外界詢問，HTC 很快回應，表示將在 Android L 正式版本推出的 90 天內為 HTC One 系列當中 HTC One M8、HTC One M7 推出升級版本，緊接著也會在指定的幾款 HTC 手機陸續進行升級。

HTC 表示，他們對於 Android L 新介面的的釋出相當興奮，而且承諾將會率先針對 HTC One 系列提供更新，而 HTC One M8 跟 M7 會在 90 天內收到來自 Google 的更新，緊接著也會陸續在其他幾款 HTC 進行升級。

在這之前，HTC 也公告將針對 HTC One M8、HTC One M7、HTC One M8 Dual、HTC One mini 2 跟即將登台的 HTC One E8 進行 Android 4.4.4 版本的升級，時間約在 7 到 9 月之間。至於 Desire 系列以及其他機種，包括 HTC One Dual SIM（M7C）、HTC One Max、HTC One mini（M4）、HTC Butterfly s、HTC Desire 816 與 HTC Desire 610 等都將會直經升級到 Android L，而不會有 Android 4.4.4 的過渡版本更新。
