美環保署長讚台 成世界典範

（中央社記者唐佩君14日台北電）美國環保署長吉娜．麥卡錫今天演講時盛讚台灣逐漸成全世界環保典範，例如在減少電子廢棄物方面交出亮麗的成績。

麥卡錫（Gina McCarthy）是自2000年後首位來台訪問的美國部長級官員，今天上午在台灣大學公開演講時表示，台北已成為亞洲最適宜居住城市之一，但污染會跨越疆界，在這個緊密連結的世界，大家面臨共同挑戰，需要共同行動因應。

她在演講時指出，台美雙方自1993年簽署環保協定後，不斷交換有關空氣水質、化學物質安全以及電子廢棄物回收的知識。

麥卡錫讚美台灣逐漸受到國際肯定，成為全世界的環保典範，並舉例台灣在減少電子廢棄物的成績，成為中美洲和非洲訂定電子廢棄物管理計畫時的參考實例。

她另外指出，此次訪台是為了支持台灣成立國際環境夥伴計畫，這項計畫一方面肯定台灣多年來的進步，另一方面則鼓勵台灣未來與世界各地分享經驗，本週來自世界各地的專家將會齊聚台北，交換經驗和作法。1030414
