美戰機即將從庫德族區空襲IS

五角大廈11日說，為了「更積極」從空中攻擊伊斯蘭國，美國戰機即將開始從伊拉克北部的庫德族區空軍基地俄比爾出擊。五角大廈海軍少將柯比證實，「武裝而且有人駕駛」的美國飛機將從俄比爾 (庫德族自治區首都)出擊，但沒有進一步詳述細節。近月攻擊伊斯蘭國的美國軍機都從伊拉克境外的基地起飛。戰機的航程比轟炸機和偵察機短，從伊拉克境內基地起飛，好處是能夠對一個目標實施更多攻擊，同時不必頻頻加油。
