凌遲2小時 美死刑又出包

美國亞利桑納州監獄廿三日對犯下兩起謀殺案的伍德執行死刑，但伍德在注射毒針後掙扎近兩小時才斷氣，遠超過平均的十到十五分鐘。這是美國今年第三起注射毒針卻變成凌遲的案例。

伍德一九八九年槍殺女友戴茲及她的父親被判死刑。目睹行刑過程的美聯社記者蓋文說，伍德接受注射鎮靜劑「咪達唑侖」和止痛劑「二氫嗎啡酮」混合藥劑後不久開始大口喘氣，在一個半小時內喘了六百多次，一名官員入內看他十多次。福斯新聞網記者也在現場，他用「魚被拋上岸」形容。

同樣目睹行刑過程的亞利桑納州司法廳長發人葛理斯漢則說：「伍德接受注射後睡著了，看起來像打鼾。我很訝異整個過程如此平靜，絕無喘氣、掙扎。」司法廳表示，伍德當地時間下午一點五十二分接受毒藥注射，三點四十九分宣告死亡，行刑過程共計一小時五十七分鐘。司法廳堅稱伍德注射毒針後旋即陷入昏迷，並未受到折磨。

行刑拖得太久，其間辯護律師貝許向聯邦地區法院提出緊急上訴，甚至打電話給聯邦最高法院大法官要求中斷行刑，但未成功。
