斯里蘭卡人澳洲尋庇護 引火自焚

澳洲移民部長莫里森(Scott Morrison)今天(2日)表示，一名在澳洲尋求庇護的斯里蘭人日前自焚身亡，他生前在等候當局延長他的簽證。
這名男子是29歲的斯曼匹萊(Leorsin Seemanpillai)，住在墨爾本附近的吉朗市(Geelong)，一年前獲得臨時簽證；他在上月31日早上自焚，全身有90%的面積受到灼傷，1日在墨爾本醫院過世。
莫里森表示，「這名男子因自戕的傷勢過重而身故，相當令人難過。我想沒有人有資格對於當時的情況妄下結論」。
莫里森也表示，當局已聯絡上死者住在印度的父親，他希望兒子能葬在吉朗。
斯曼匹萊於2013年1月搭船抵達澳洲，一直都有接受社區心理衛生人員的協助，而他難民資格的申請仍在作業中。
澳洲近來的移民政策相當嚴格，凡是2013年7月後搭船抵澳的難民，若無法出具簽證，一律直接送往巴布亞紐幾內亞(PNG)曼奴斯島(Manus Island)以及諾魯共和國的難民營。
