領獎…促成翁啟惠全家團圓

中央研究院院長翁啟惠的一雙子女遠在美國求學、工作，自己和妻子劉映理一起在台灣，他笑說，要和子女見面非得利用「沃爾夫獎」當藉口，才得以和他們團圓，距離上次全家相聚，已經快一年了。

翁啟惠是嘉義義竹人，嘉義義竹翁家才人輩出，名聞東洋的歌星翁倩玉和他有親戚關係，前司法院院長翁岳生，也是義竹出身。

出身政治世家卻常自嘲不懂政治，他表示，在這一任院長退休後（2016年10月屆滿），要繼續投入最愛的科學研究領域，繼續為各種困難（生技）的題目找出答案。

翁啟惠除了學術，其人格都備受稱譽，但近期對核電、學運等領域的發言，讓外界對他多了一些疼惜，疼他樹大招風常受莫名政治事件牽連，業界指出，翁啟惠為人「只有一面，沒有兩面」，公開場合和私底下的翁啟惠幾乎一模一樣。

對於假日休閒，翁啟惠說，喜歡在家看科學書籍、期刊、陪伴夫人。
