愛地球：白孔雀開屏示愛

白孔雀是印度孔雀的突變種，圖為日本一動物園的白孔雀，開屏示愛。

達人語：

六福村主題樂園動管課課長呂學博說，白孔雀其實是印度孔雀的基因突變種，並不是罹患白化病的白子，只是在生產色素的基因上有突變，造成全身雪白的情況。整體而言白孔雀仍是健康的，但身處野外，白色實在太過顯眼，容易成為其他動物的獵物，造成牠們在野外難以生存，目前白孔雀多為人工繁衍的個體。

★學名：Pavo cristatus
★英文名：Indian Peacock
★體形：公鳥體重可達4~6公斤，尾羽可以長達150公分，母鳥大約2.7~4公斤
★特徵：全身雪白
★分布：巴基斯坦、印度和斯里蘭卡
