7局上結束，沙瑪吉亞帶著球隊2比0領先的勝投候選人資格退場，首勝近在咫尺。孰料9局上，小熊二壘手巴尼在無人出局滿壘下，竟然爆傳一壘，讓洋基連跑2分扳平比數；小熊最終因延長第13局上維拉斯的要命暴投，2比4很嘔的輸球。
