魔術方塊發明至今已40週年了。

自1980年代起風靡全球的魔術方塊（Magic Cube），發明至今已40週年了。今天的goolgle doodle主題就是魔術方塊，網友可以動動滑鼠來轉轉看，解開後還可以透過 Google+、Facebook、Twitter等方式跟好友分享。

根據維基百科資料記載，魔術方塊為匈牙利建築學教授暨雕塑家魯比克‧厄爾諾在1974年發明的益智玩具，原意是為了幫助學生認識空間立體的組成和結構，並在1975年取得匈牙利專利，但未申請國際專利，第一批魔術方塊於1977年在布達佩斯的玩具店販售，之後由Ideal Toys公司於1980年在倫敦、巴黎、美國的國際玩具博覽會展出，逐漸在全世界受到歡迎。

1980年代為魔術方塊的全盛時期，1980年至1982年共售出了近200萬個，至1980年代中期，全世界約有五分之一的人在玩魔術方塊，巨大的商機也讓魔術方塊衍生出多樣造型變化，受歡迎的程度至今未衰。
