在前一場遭到拓荒者艾德里奇(LaMarcus Aldridge)猛轟46分之後，火箭隊24日的第二戰還是拿他沒轍，雖然靠著霍華德(Dwight Howard)上半場豪取25分的表現還勉強緊咬比分，但下半場艾德里奇卻是越打越火燙，最終就再猛轟43分，率領拓荒者以112比105取得系列賽2比0的領先優勢，且下場比賽將來到波特蘭舉行。

第二戰賽前誓言要「硬起來」的火箭中鋒「魔獸」霍華德，今日比賽首節果真展開強烈攻勢，包辦了火箭開賽的前13分，其中還4度在拓荒者羅培茲(Robin Lopez)面前完成爆扣，單節19分的表現也助火箭一度保有領先優勢。

不過拓荒者艾德里奇也不遑多讓，在這一場「12號對決」中，艾德里奇可說是越打越帶勁，首節拿下11分的他，二、三節得分持續飆高到單節12分和16分，三節打完已經轟進高達39分，命中率高達7成3，把下半場因為體力消耗而命中率下滑的霍華德甩在後頭。

帶著6分領先進入第四節的拓荒者，決定讓艾德里奇在該節前段保存體力，不過火箭隊卻遲遲無法將比分追近，加上霍華德也因為犯規麻煩導致進攻綁手綁腳，讓兩隊始終維持在5分以上的差距。

比賽最後1分半鐘，火箭帕森斯(Chandler Parsons)快攻得手，緊接著哈登(James Harden)也上籃得分，讓兩隊回到4分差距，不過火箭卻在比賽最後1分鐘連續漏了關鍵籃板和防守，讓拓荒者最終就以7分差收下系列賽二連勝。

數據表現部分，火箭今日以霍華德的32分、14籃板表現最佳，林書豪替補上陣24分鐘，則有5分、5助攻進帳；拓荒者部分則以艾德里奇的43分表現最佳，里拉德(Damian Lillard)18分、11助攻。
