First Solar供應澳礦業 協議近

彭博報導，美國最大太陽能板製造商第一太陽能公司（First Solar Inc .）供應澳洲偏遠礦場計畫的協議近，協助礦業資源公司撙節燃料成本費用。

第一太陽能駐雪梨亞太事業開發副總裁柯蒂斯（Jack Curtis）接受電話訪問時表示，公司計畫未來3年為礦業產業開發最高達200百萬瓦（megawatt）電力。總部位於亞利桑那坦佩（Tempe）的第一太陽能計畫結合太陽能和柴油。

柯蒂斯28日受訪時指出，「在獲利能力和過去大不同的環境下，礦業聚焦在控制費用，電費成了較大宗的費用，降低電費和燃料價格變動避險，則是太陽能可以作到的。」「我們預期短期內在這方面，宣佈十分激勵人心的計畫。」

隨著公用事業要求規模較小的計畫，第一太陽能加把勁在工業區和倉庫安裝太陽能系統，尋求在沙烏地阿拉伯、印度和南美等其他地區開拓市場。隨著10年金屬價格榮景消退，必和必拓（BHP Billiton Ltd.）和力拓集團（Rio Tinto Group）在內的大型礦業公司紛紛控制費用支出。
