高濃縮鈾和鈽 日將移交美

日本首相安倍晉三和美國總統歐巴馬今天在核子安全高峰會開始前說，日本將把儲存的數百公斤敏感高濃縮鈾和鈽，移交給美國降低濃度與處理。

路透社報導，歐巴馬和安倍晉三發布聯合聲明，表示會把「日本原子能研究開發機構」（JAEA）臨界實驗裝置（Fast Critical Assembly）的全部高濃縮鈾和分離的鈽移走。

美聯社報導，日本計劃把超過700磅的武器級鈽和若干高濃縮鈾移交給美國，這是歐巴馬努力確保全球核子物資的一項成就。

這些物資數十年來存放在一座研究用反應爐所在的茨城縣東海村。當地1999年發生事故，造成2名工人死亡，在20小時核子連鎖反應中，有300多人暴露在超過一年標準的放射線劑量下。

法新社報導，根據報告，東海村約有300多公斤鈽和近200公斤高濃縮鈾。東海村位於東京東北方約140公里。

這次移交給美國的高濃縮鈾和鈽，只占日本所有的一小部分。

鈾和鈽都能用於核能發電，或研究用途，但也能用來製造原子彈。臨界實驗裝置用來進行與快速中子爐（fast reactor）有關的中子研究。

聯合聲明說：「這些放射性物資安全運到美國後，將送到一個安全設施，充分稀釋成為比較不敏感物資。」
