九合一大選重新加溫，民進黨主席蔡英文明將出席台大論壇，主講「台灣的未來」，也是高雄氣爆後首場公開活動。民進黨新北市長參選人游錫堃說，高雄救災逐漸告一段落，他今將恢復選戰會議，「北北桃」是關鍵選區，年底選戰將是「決戰淡水河」。

高雄氣爆後，蔡英文主持因應會議時下令停止競選活動，原定蔡英文南下各地授旗、輔選活動也無限期延後，連帶九月黨慶的造勢氛圍也受到影響，讓輔選幹部相當頭大。

陳菊本周將北上會見行政院長江宜樺，災後重建進入實質層面。蔡英文明將應邀出席台大法學院的台大論壇，發表約廿分鐘主題演講。

游錫堃表示，基隆市將避免藍綠對決，他主要是和無黨籍台北市長參選人柯文哲推動「雙北合作」，加上淡水河流域經過的桃園縣，民進黨若年底在「北北桃」勝選，二○一六總統大選就更有機會重返執政，黨內有人喊出今年九合一大選是「決戰淡水河」。
