挑戰失敗 艾瑞塔無安打破功

過去控球不穩的Jake Arrieta，本季轉戰小熊，展現煥然一新的投球內容，上一戰對上紅人，前6局繳出無瑕疵的完全比賽，不過，最終以7局3安9K丟2分收場，此役迎戰紅襪，Arrieta捲土重來，挑戰無安打比賽，但第8局2人出局時，無安打比賽破功，始終差臨門一腳，Arrieta隨即退場，宣告挑戰失敗，現場球迷以熱烈掌聲向他致意，終場小熊以2比0完封紅襪。

8局下，2人出局，Arrieta面對紅襪第3名打者Stephen Drew，耗掉7球，最後Drew逮中93英里卡特球，敲出右外野安打，壞了Arrieta好事。

事實上，Arrieta當時耗球數已來到120球（75顆好球），Arrieta5月初才傷癒復出，小熊教練可不願意冒任何風險，決定將他換下場。

Arrieta下投手丘後，全場球迷起立鼓掌，他也脫帽致謝，並將球帽作為禮物，丟向球迷。

這一戰作客紅襪球場，Arrieta主投7.2局，狂飆10K，在第5局對Mike Napoli投出唯一保送，沒有丟分，取得4連勝，本季先發11場，戰績5勝1敗，防禦率1.81。

「能在芬威球場投出這樣的內容，是相當少見的，我自己都起雞皮疙瘩，這也是為什麼你會在這，就是為了投出這樣的比賽，我很感謝能成為比賽的一部份。」Arrieta在賽後表示。

承擔敗投的是紅襪先發投手Jake Peavy，主投6局，被敲5安，送出7K，2次保送，在第4局挨了Nate Schierholtz一發2分砲，吞下本季第7敗（1勝），防禦率4.82。
