國民與紅雀系列賽首戰，上演低比數的投手戰，最終紅雀靠Matt Adams的陽春全壘打，終場以1比0贏球，先發8局無失分的Lance Lynn獲勝投。

繼上次對戰洋基拿下完封勝，展現驚人壓制力，這回Lynn再度封鎖對手火力，完投8局，僅被敲2支安打，用掉111球，其中73好球，飆出8次三振，沒有任何保送，防禦率3.16，戰績7勝4敗。

剛從15天傷兵名單回來的Adams，首戰就有建樹，繳出3打數2安打，扛出陽春砲成勝敗關鍵，助紅雀贏球。

另一方面，國民先發投手Jordan Zimmermann，同樣完投8局，繳出優質內容，用球數相當精簡，僅用76球，其中57好球，被敲3支安打，送出1次保送，5次三振，可是遭Adams挨轟丟1分，悲情吞敗，戰績5勝3敗，防禦率2.98。

「我丟出速球，取得一個好的開始，可惜接下來失誤了，變化球在中間下墜了一些，Adams讓我付出代價。」Zimmermann賽後說道。

這場比賽僅打了2個小時又3分鐘，是紅雀布許球場在本賽季，耗費時間最短的賽事，賽後Lynn笑著說：「真希望每次比賽都能和今天一樣，這樣就可以和家人多些相處的時間。」
