愛地球：馬來貘拼第3胎

曾在《少年Pi》亮相的馬來貘「馬雅」懷孕待產。台北市立動物園提供

台北市立動物園副研究員曹先紹表示，導演李安的電影《少年Pi》片頭，有隻馬來貘帶著女兒走向鏡頭，牠就是該園的「馬雅」。馬雅在2007及2010年分別生下女兒「貘莉」和「貘芳」。本月初保育員注意到馬雅乳房開始腫脹，顯示快要分娩，寶寶預估月底至下月初報到。
曹先紹說，遊客在亞洲區偶爾有機會看到大腹便便、走路小心翼翼的馬雅，為讓牠安心養胎及順利生產，保育員目前安排馬雅單獨使用不同的戶外空間。

馬來貘小檔案

◎學名：Tapirus indicus
◎英文名：Malayan Tapir
◎體形：體長1.8∼2.4公尺、肩高0.9∼1.1公尺、體重250∼540公斤
◎分布：亞洲東南部、熱帶雨林及較低的山區森林
◎特徵：身體渾圓，全身除後段有如穿肚兜的白色體毛，其他部位皆呈黑色；幼貘出生時，身體有條紋狀保護色，長大後體色會轉變
