Asustek Computer is expected to maintain its leading market status for motherboards and graphics cards in Europe and Russia, according to Europe general manager Alex Kim for the Open Platform Business Group.
Asustek's Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand specifically for mid-range and high-end gaming motherboards and graphics cards has been selling well in Europe and Russia, Kim said. Gamers in the markets care much more about performance and quality of products than about price, Kim indicated.
In addition, Asustek has seen good sales of ROG products in the Northern Europe because there are many quality-sensitive gamers in the market, Kim said.
Asustek had 33% of first-quarter 2014 consolidated revenues coming from Europe, 45% from Asia Pacific and 22% from North America. The company expects to ship 5.2 million motherboards and desktops, 4.6 million notebooks, 2.8 million tablets and 1.5 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2014.
